Once we all filled our bellies, we headed to the beach where we lounged in the sun on Ka'anapali Beach. Vicki had a taste of divine retribution when she got hammered by a wave after making fun of fat girls in bikins, Aaron and I snorkeled around Black Rock and saw several giant sea turtles...one was only about 6 feet from me without me even knowing it! It was an impressive sight with it's back being about 3 feet across (the largest we saw). It quickly dove down into the depths and hid itself under the coral shelf out of sight of annoying snorklers like us.
We soon were all too hot and sun-kissed to stay exposed any longer and we took a walk along the ocean side boardwalk to check out the other resorts' pools and gardens. By far, the Maui Westin impressed with it's numerous waterfalls and zoo-like collection of birds. The Hyatt had African penguins of all things! A funny sight in such lush tropical surroundings. As you can see in the pics, one really liked Jackie and thought her camera strap looked tasty.
It is relatively early but we are all exhausted. Tomorrow we'll be exploring by car as our slight sunburns heal.

Thanks for the posting of Maui photos. Very nice - surf, sand, tropical drinks, setting sun.....Ronald McDonald?! The beach looks just like what I can see from the webcam except lots, lots closer!
Those pictures look super duper! I like the one with you guys chilling with your drinks with the sunset backdrop. Did Jackie lose her nose to the penguin? He looked very mean and cuddley! Hmmm...
Also, I think the real ronald is wearing a mask...

ps. i bought the arresed development season 2 and 3 dvds today. i'll be watching those tonight, alone, in crappy nyc while you're out galavanting in the tropics. curses!!!!
Pete, I too want to complain that I am not in Hawaii but this is Matts blog and we can't steal the attention that his blog deserves. Stop stealing the attention from your brother or I'll tell your mom! Petar!
BTW - I got a call from Jon today. Chris, Autumn, James, Dan & him drove by my building today and I could see the line of cars they were stuck in heading to the Big E. Otherwise I'm sure they'd be jealous of your trip and would write in the blog... but I guess they do have the big yellow slide.. that may actually be better than Hawaii... 8^)
